A Belgian malt that brings a biscuit or toast flavour to the beer. Lightly kilned, then lightly heat treated at up to 160°C. Used in Belgian beers but is also useful to give a distinctiveness to English ales and porters. More subtle than chocolate malt.
Colour 50 EBC; Maximum recommended usage percentage 15% of total grain bill.
