The Betterbrew Triple scale hydrometer shows the sugar content of your brew. Sugar content is high at the beginning and the hydrometer flats high. As the fermentation proceeds sugar is converted to alcohol and the hydrometer will float lower. The reading should be taken where the bottom of the meniscus touches the scale. There are three useful scales on the barrel of the hydrometer including one showing the start and finish ranges for wine and beer, a sugar content scale and a potential alcohol scale. The hydrometer is made of glass and should be handled with care.
